It's definitely an EA App thing, not the key itself. I got it to work. Repairing the game and logging in and out of the app didn't do anything. What I did was I uninstalled the Sims 4 first and then deleted the EA App. I redownloaded it and then the Sims, and the expansion pack did show up in my "manage add ons" page then and was able to If you're given the option, try repairing the game in Origin: open your game library, right-click on the Sims 4 icon, and select Repair.
